Google at work on desktop Linux

Google is preparing its own distribution of Linux for the desktop, in a possible bid to take on Microsoft in its core business - desktop software.
A version of the increasingly popular Ubuntu desktop Linux distribution, based on Debian and the Gnome desktop, it is known internally as 'Goobuntu'. (more here)

iPhone Screen Problems?

Readers are reporting that some iPhone screens are brighter than others at the full brightness setting (toggled by going to the Settings application then tapping Brightness). The screens that are not as bright also exhibit a grid pattern on the background — not a set of vertical lines on the setting screen, which is normal, but a checkered pattern of horizontal and vertical lines in all applications).
